Start with your form's current instructions. An organized PDF cannot replace required initial evidence or establish eligibility by itself. This checklist helps you find document gaps before filing; it is not an announcement of a new rule.
A short evidence check before filing
- Read the current form instructions and filing page. Make your own list of the items that apply to your filing category.
- Mark each item as ready, missing or needing attorney review. Do not assume USCIS will request anything you leave out.
- Check signatures, dates and readable copies. Keep originals available when instructions call for copies.
- Keep a non-English record with its complete English translation and the translator's certification where required.
- Make an exhibit index only after the files are in final order. Match its page references to the actual PDF.
- Keep a complete copy of what you submit and its confirmation or delivery record.
Already received an RFE or NOID?
Use the specific notice instead of treating this pre-filing checklist as your response instructions. Record its due date and submission method, then map every issue to supporting records. Ask a qualified immigration attorney about the legal response.
