Can I send messages as proof?
The I-130 instructions end their list of examples with “any other relevant documentation.” Messages are not named, but many couples, especially those living apart, add a few. They support your other proof; they do not replace stronger records you have.
Pick a few good examples
- Choose a few pages from different months or years. Do not send your whole chat history.
- Make sure both names (or contacts) and the dates are visible.
- For calls, a summary showing regular contact over time is easier to read than hundreds of lines.
- Leave out private things that have nothing to do with your relationship.
Translate other languages
USCIS requires a full English translation of anything in another language. The translator must sign a statement that the translation is complete and correct and that they can translate both languages. Plan for this before you choose pages.
Make screenshots easy to read
Put screenshots in one PDF, in date order, with a short note on each page. In Case Album you can add them as a document exhibit, for example “Exhibit E: Messages”, with its own cover page and page labels.

Frequently asked questions
Can I send WhatsApp messages to USCIS?
Many couples add a few pages of messages as extra proof. Show names and dates, keep it short, and add English translations for other languages.
How many screenshots should I include?
USCIS sets no number. A few pages from different times usually show ongoing contact better than a full export.
