Prepare a recent square portrait, separate from your passport scan. Check the final DV-2027 instructions before submitting.
Photo checklist
- File: 600 × 600 pixels, JPEG, no more than 240 KB under the existing DV instructions.
- Age: taken within the last six months. Do not reuse an earlier lottery photo.
- Background: plain white or off-white, without shadows.
- Face: face the camera, eyes open, neutral expression and no eyeglasses.
- Crop: show the whole head and use the official head-size and eye-position guidance.
- Editing: do not alter your face, apply beauty filters or generate a replacement portrait with AI.
Resizing cannot fix every photo. A file can have the right dimensions and still fail the visual requirements. Use the government's examples to check yours.
